      Water Supply History

      • It was on January 9, 1862 that the issue of construction of the city water supply was originally discussed. The Yaroslavl City Council meeting considered the proposals of the Yaroslavl Province Head, but could not allocate either city budget funds or community funds for the construction.
      • The first design of the water supply facilities was developed by St Petersburg engineers Ryleev and Vyazemsky and was generally approved by the City Duma in 1876.

      Ivan A. Vakhromeev
      (1843-1908)

      •  On April 29, 1882 the City Authorities headed by Ivan A. Vakhromeev entered into a construction contract with Carl C. Dille, the designer and constructor of water supply systems in Kiev, Kursk and Grodno.
      • On May 1, 1882 the construction of water supply services commenced under supervision of Tile, who operated the water facilities till 1898 in accordance with the power of attorney issues by Carl Dille.

      Filter Building
      • Yaroslavl water supply system was commissioned on January 30, 1883.
      • Treatment and disinfection of drinking water was not to be introduced until 1915. Then the first filter station was constructed (now the site of the Central Water Treatment Plant).

      Wastewater Services History

      • In 1899 at the City Duma meeting Muranov, a Duma representative, raised the issue of development of wastewater services in Yaroslavl.

      • In 1900 Professor Ensh developed two designs of the city wastewater services.

      • In 1929 was approved the new design of the Yaroslavl wastewater services developed by Neptune construction company.

      • In 1930-1931 Kanalstroy company completed construction of Soviet gravity-flowing wastewater collector with a temporary discharge at the ArsenalTower. The collector of 5 km long was constructed by a tunnel method with the depth of laying 14 m.

        • In 1931 was established a united enterprise of Vodokanal. In 1931-1940 additionally were built October, Proletarsky and Glavny gravity-flowing collectors.

        • In 1962 – 1967 wastewater treatment plant was constructed. On January 1, 1967 the first train of mechanical treatment was commissioned.

      • After 1969 biological treatment of wastewater was introduced.
